Mankato, Minn. - - Four unanswered goals from Bemidji State were too much for Minnesota State in a 4-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association loss Saturday night in the Verizon Wireless Center.

The Mavericks were on the board first after senior forward Michael Dorr caught a puck that Andrew Sackrison had stolen from the Beaversand  fired it from just outside the crease high on the glove side of BSU junior goaltender Dan Bakala at 14:06 in the first period.

BSU tied the score up at 8:16 in the second period on a power play shot from the top of the slot by junior Brad Hunt.. The Beavers got their first lead of the series when sophomore forward Jordan George got the first of his two goals after he took a cross-goal pass from  Matt Read and put it into the net at 9:42.

The third unanswered goal for BSU came at 1:23 in the third period from George who beat MSU's Phil Cook high on the glove side for a power play marker.  The Beavers closed out their offensive onslaught at 17:09 when Ian Lowe beat Cook from in front.

BSU goaltender Dan Bakala turned away 40 Maverick shots while Phil Cook stopped the Beavers 16 times, in a game where MSU outshot BSU 41-20.

The Mavericks, who entered the game owning a three-game unbeaten streak,  lost to an unranked opponent for the first time since Oct. 15th, 2010 when Michigan Tech claimed a 5-2 win in Houghton, Mich.

Tonight's loss drops MSU to 12-12-6 overall, 6-12-4 WCHA. The Mavericks are on the road next weekend for a pair of league contests at Colorado College in their next action.
