Box Score Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State University Mavericks faced off against the first-rated University of Wisconsin Badgers and dropped the WCHA contest, 4-0.
Wisconsin jumped out to 1-0 lead at 17:16 of the first when sophomore center Brianna Decker collected a rebound in front of the net from a shot from senior Meghan Duggan and beat MSU netminder Alli Altmann high glove side.
The Badgers added three goals in the second period giving the Badgers the 4-0 win. The first by Decker who scored her second goal of the night at 3:37, the second by senior Anne Dronen at 11:00 and the third by Decker at 19:39.
Wisconsin finished with 38 shots to Minnesota State’s 14. The Mavericks went 0-for-4 on the power play and the Badgers went 1-for-6.
Altmann stopped 34 shots, while Wisconsin goaltender finished with 14 saves.
The Mavericks (8-22-3, 7-19-1-0 WCHA) and Badgers (29-2-2, 23-2-2-2 WCHA) will conclude their series at 3:07pm on Saturday February 19 at All Seasons Arena.
