MSU Records a 4-0 Loss to No.1 Wisconsin

Mankato, Minn.— The Minnesota State Women’s Hockey team fell 4-0 to No. 1 Wisconsin Friday night at All Seasons Arena in Mankato.
 
In the first period, Wisconsin’s Brianna Decker scored at the 3:56 mark on a power-play goal assisted by Hilary Knight and Stefanie McKeough. Knight struck again at the 12:19 mark of the first period to give the Badgers a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of action. UW outshot MSU 19-4 in the first period.
 
UW’s Knight tallied another goal at the 8:31 mark in the second and another assist on a Brooke Ammerman goal. Britta Ammerman and Hilary Knight also assisted the final goal of the game, which was scored at 10:15 in the second period.
 
After a scoreless third period, Wisconsin outshot the Mavericks 47-16 in the game as MSU senior Alli Altmann tallied 43 saves on the night. Badger goaltender Alex Rigsby turned down 16 MSU shots to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
 
Minnesota State sophomore Kari Lundberg led the Mavericks as she ripped five shots in the game.
 
MSU (5-10-0, 1-8-0 WCHA) and UW(16-1-0, 10-1-0 WCHA) return to the ice to finish the weekend series at 3:07 p.m., at All Seasons Arena in Mankato.
