A Little History Lesson: The 2011 season marks the school's 85th season playing football. The Mavericks are 381-375-28 (.504) in 784 games since their inception as a varsity sport in 1922. A Little Bit About the Mineral Water Bowl: The Mineral Water bowl is a game that is traditionally played between the top non-playoff teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association. This year's game pits the Mavericks against a future MIAA member in Northeastern State University. The Riverhawks will join the MIAA in 2012. The NSIC has been sending teams to the Mineral Water Bowl since 2000 and owns a 2-9 mark in the contest with the lone league wins coming by Winona State (2000) and Augustana (2008).
What's in a Win: A win would give MSU its 382nd win in school history...A victory would be the 34th victory for head coach Todd Hoffner at MSU and the 80th victory of his career...A win would give the NSIC its third win all-time in the Mineral Water Bowl.
