10/4/2011 1:47:00 PM

What Lies Ahead:  The No. 19 Minnesota State Mavericks (10-5, 3-4 NSIC) close out their longest road stand of the year this week as they travel to Wayne, Neb., to face No. 12 Wayne State (11-5, 4-3 NSIC) before going to Sioux Falls, S.D., to take on Augustana College (10-5, 4-3 NSIC).  The Mavericks contest with Wayne State is Friday at 7 p.m., while the match-up with Augustana is Saturday at 3 p.m.

Tough Week: The Mavericks went 1-1 this past week as they were swept by Minnesota Crookston (25-27, 18-25, 26-28) before responding with a win in four sets over MSU Moorhead (25-15, 19-25, 28-26, 25-17).  The Mavericks were led offensively last week by junior outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty who contributed 27 kills on 93 attempts.  Fogarty also added one service ace, 26 digs and three total blocks.  Sophomore outside hitter Jenna McNallan recorded the second most kills for the Mavericks (25) including a career-high 21 against MSU Moorhead.  McNallan also recorded two assists, four service aces, 22 digs and two total blocks.  Senior setter Brittany Stamer paced MSU with 84 of the team’s 98 assists over the weekend.

On Her Way To The Top: Last year setter Brittany Stamer led the Mavericks with 1,191 assists as she became the fifth Maverick to join the MSU 3,000 assist club.  Stamer has recorded 633 assists this year as she recently joined the MSU 4,000 assist club which only one previous Maverick has accomplished.  Stamer currently owns 4,068 career assists, remaining 300 away from the school’s all-time record.  Jen Blendermann (1999-2002) currently owns the all-time assist record with 4,367.  Stamer has averaged 1,145 assists per season throughout her first three years as she recently moved into second on the all-time list.
