Minnesota State Returns Home With Large Task at Hand

What Lies Ahead:  The No. 20 Minnesota State Mavericks (11-6, 4-5 NSIC) return home after their four-game road stand which they went 2-2 as the squad will face top-ranked Concordia (18-0, 9-0 NSIC) Friday before closing out the week with a match against St. Cloud State (5-12, 1-8 NSIC) Saturday.

Last Week At A Glance: The No. 20 Minnesota State Mavericks went 1-1 last week as they lost to No. 10 Wayne State in five sets (16-25, 21-25, 25-14, 25-16, 12-15) on Friday before defeating Augustana in five sets (25-21, 25-27, 27-29, 25-15, 15-11) on Saturday.  The Mavericks (11-6, 4-5 NSIC) were led at the net by junior outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty who contributed 45 kills and five total blocks.  Fogarty also added 37 digs for the Mavericks.  Senior setter Brittany Stamer joined the MSU 1,000 dig club over the weekend as she picked up 56 digs giving her 1,009 for her career becoming the ninth player to accomplish this feat in school history.  Stamer also paced MSU with 118 assists while adding seven kills.  Junior middle blocker Jill Storlie added the second most kills recording 31 while also leading the team with 14 total blocks.  Senior setter Alli Rice moved into fourth place on the MSU all-time digs list after picking up 39 more over the weekend.  She now has 1,194 for her career.

History Lesson 101: Last year setter Brittany Stamer led the Mavericks with 1,191 assists as she became the fifth Maverick to join the MSU 3,000 assist club.  Stamer has recorded 751 assists this year as she recently joined the MSU 4,000 assist club which only one previous Maverick has accomplished.  Stamer currently owns 4,186 career assists, remaining 182 away from the school’s all-time record.  Jen Blendermann (1999-2002) currently owns the all-time assist record with 4,367.  Stamer has averaged 1,145 assists per season throughout her first three years as she moved into second on the all-time list earlier this season.
