Mankato, Minn.--- Minnesota State (3-1-0) heads to Pittsburgh to face Robert Morris (2-0-0) in its final nonconference games of the year this weekend. Friday the Mavericks and Colonials are slated for a 6:05 p.m. Central Standard Time.


Maverick and Colonial History:

- The teams have met five times over the past five seasons. 

- Both teams have won two games and tied the other.

- Minnesota State and Robert Morris tied 2-2 in its last meeting on Dec. 3, 2010.

- In the first two meetings, MSU won 6-0 in 2007 and 2-1 in 2006.

- Minnesota State has outscored Robert Morris 12-8 in the meetings.

- Last season Kathleen RoganLauren Zrust and Melissa Klippenstein all scored on RMU’s goaltender Kristen DiCiocco last season. 

-MSU’s Lauren Smith, Erika MagnussonKelsie Scott and Emmi Leinonen earned assists against the Colonials.

- Robert Morris forward Brianna Delaney scored three goals in the two games last season. 

- In the two games last season, MSU outshot Robert Morris 51-28.

- Minnesota State captain Ariel Mackley records a +2 rating against Robert Morris

Robert Morris Notes: 

- Stand 2-0 this season after an opening weekend sweep over Lindenwood 8-0 and 7-2.

- Blistered 107 shots for its 15 goals against the Lions.

- The Colonials are 3-for-15 on the power-play with 35 shots and 2-for-10 on the penalty kill. 

- Katie Fergus and Rebecca Vint both have three goals and two assists in the first two games.

- Robert Morris owns a +54 rating as a team and every player is in the postives in the +/- category.

- Kristen DiCiocco and Courtney Vinet each played a game in the nets last weekend as DiCocco recorded a shutout with 14 saves.

- Rebecca Vint owns a team-best 67 percent (30-15) in the face-off circle. 

- Thea Imbrogno has a team-high three assists through the first two games.

- The Colonials have 13 penalties this season.

- 18 of the 22 players on Robert Morris’ roster are Canadien.

- Paul Colontino is in his first year as head coach of Robert Morris.


In the WCHA: Freshman Kathleen Rogan ranked T-35th in the WCHA in points (12-9--21), 26th in goals scored and sixth in freshman scoring last year. This season Rogan (5-1--6) comes into the weekend tied in fourth for goals scored in the WCHA. Junior Lauren Smith is tied in first in the WCHA for assists (7) through the first two weeks of the season.


The Rogan Factor: Sophomore forward Kathleen Rogan tied the school record for goals in a game  when she scored four against Lindenwood (10/1). The feat has been accomplished five times with the last time by Melanie Salatino vs. North Dakota Oct. 17, 2003.


The One-Two Punch: Sophomore Kathleen Rogan and junior Lauren Smith return to the 2011-12 season as the top two in points, assists and shots a year ago. Rogan went 12-9--21 with 86 shots. Smith went 4-11--15 with a total of 104 shots. The duo picked up where it left off last season as Rogan (5-1-6) and Smith (1-7--8) combined for 26 shots on goal against Lindenwood and 11 against Mercyhurst. Sophomore Lauren Barnes  (1-6--7) joins the club this season, with her lone goal being the deciding factor in MSU’s opener and marking four assists against LU (10/1). Barnes, Rogan and Smith all scored four points in the Saturday contest against LU, landing them tied for second at MSU in most points in a game. Barnes and Smith tied the school record for assists in a game with four.
