Senior forward Lisa Edman scored her first goal of the season

Grand Forks, N.D. --- Minnesota State dropped Friday night’s WCHA road-contest to North Dakota, 6-1.

UND scored the game’s opening goal courtesy of sophomore forward Mary Loken at 9:20 of the first. Junior winger Alyssa Wiebe took the puck down the right side of MSU’s zone luring Maverick netminder Alli Altmann out of position, and sent the puck cross-net to Loken who finished with the open net.

Senior forward Lisa Edman tallied the equalizer, her first goal of the season and 19th of her career, at 12:11 of the first frame after cleaning up a rebound in front of Sioux goaltender Stephanie Ney. Junior alternate captain Moira O’Connor and freshman Kari Lundberg earned helpers on the goal.

Midway through the second, North Dakota tallied two goals, the first at 9:28 and the second at10:20, giving the Sioux a 3-1 advantage after two periods. Sophomore Monique Lamoureux-Kolls tallied the first goal of the second, and Sophomore Allison Parizek tallying UND’s second goal of the period.

Lamoureux-Kolls (3:39), Parizek (4:52) and sophomore center Jocelyne Lamoureux (8:20) each scored third period goals for UND, making the final, 6-1.

North Dakota finished with 41 shots to MSU’s 22. The Fighting Sioux finished the game 3-of-6 on power play chances, while the Mavericks went, 0-for-4.

Altmann finished with 35 saves and UND’s Ney stopped 21 MSU shots.

The Mavericks (6-18-3, 5-15-1-0 WCHA) and the Fighting Sioux (15-7-3, 13-6-2-0 WCHA) will finish up their series tomorrow night at 7:07 inside Ralph Engelstad Arena.
