Mavericks Fall to Golden Bears, 3-1

Mankato, Minn. --- The #12 Minnesota State volleyball team dropped a four-set match to sixth-ranked Concordia University Tuesday night, 3-1. The Mavericks took set one, 25-16, but dropped the next three by scores of 23-25, 18-25 and 20-25.

After running away with the first set, the Mavericks battled tough in each of the last three, but could not get enough rolling to pick up a win.

In the match, senior right-side hitter Kimber Kuhl racked up 19 kills on 45 attempts, while senior outside hitter Amanda Beekman finished with 11 kills. Junior setter Brittany Stamer setup her teammates well, tallying 47 assists. She also led the Mavericks with two service aces.

Junior defensive specialist Alli Rice and sophomore defensive specialist Samantha Dale tallied 17 and 16 digs, respectively. Sophomore middle blocker Courteney Steinhauser finished with a team-best two blocks.

The Mavericks (9-2 overall, 1-2 NSIC) will finish the week on the road, traveling to Bemidji, Minn. to face the Beavers Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Duluth, Minn. to face the second-ranked Bulldogs, Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
