Minnesota State to Face Warriors and Mustangs in NSIC Action

NSIC Action: The Minnesota State volleyball team will open its conference portion of its schedule this week. The Mavericks first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest will come Tuesday night in Winona, Minn. when they face the Warriors of Winona State. MSU will then take on the Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Minn. at 3:00 p.m.

Nonconference Sweep: The 14th ranked Minnesota State volleyball squad finished its nonconference portion of the season undefeated, 8-0. After finishing 4-0 in the Ferris State Volleyball Invitational two weeks ago, the Mavericks continued to roll this past weekend in the Nova Southeastern Tournament with wins over Christian Brothers, 3-0, West Alabama, 3-1, District of Columbia, 3-0, and Lynn, 3-0.

Win #100!: Head coach Dennis Amundson was the owner of 98 career wins at Minnesota State heading into the weekend, and with a 4-0 performance from his squad, the sixth year head coach reached the century mark...Only three other coaches in program history have reached the 100 win mark...Georgene Brock, Marge Burkett and Doug Tully are the others...Amundson currently owns the second best winning percentage in program history with .646, and the best winning percecntage of any head coach with 100 or more wins.

Winona State: The Winona State Warriors enters Tuesday’s game with a 3-3 record...Sophomore middle blocker Kathy Lohff currently leads the Warriors in kills with 72, 3.27 per set...Freshman setter Kayla Uhlenhake is WSU’s setup woman who owns 160 assists on the year.

Southwest Minnesota State: The #5 Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs enter the week with a 7-1 record...Junior middle blocker Devin Diedrich currently leads the Mustangs in kills with 120, 4.00 per set...Junior setter Cara Carson is SMSU’s assists leader who owns 357 on the year.
