Box Score MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks wrapped up their final regular season series against the North Dakota Fighting Sioux Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 on Senior Day.
The Mavericks seven seniors that were honored before Saturday afternoon’s contest included: Captain and forward Kala Buganski, forward Christina Lee, forward Ida Clark, Alternate Captain and forward Ashley Young, forward Jenna Hewitt, defenseman Holly Snyder and defenseman Kathleen Rosso.
After a scoreless first period, the Fighting Sioux scored the opening goal of the contest. Sophomore Sara Dagenais scored the power play goal for UND, putting the puck past Maverick goaltender Alli Altmann. Rookie forward Ashley Furia and junior defenseman Kelly Lewis earned assists on the goal.
For the second night in a row, the Mavericks outshot the Fighting Sioux, 34-31. The Mavericks finished the afternoon 0-3 with an extra skater, while UND went 1-3.
Altmann finished with 30 saves while UND’s Stephanie Ney recorded 34 saves.
The Mavericks will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. next weekend to take on the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the first round of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs. The best of three will advance to the next round.
