Minnesota State Set to Host #6 North Dakota in WCHA Action

Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State women’s hockey squad currently stands 1-2-1 overall and 0-2-0-0 Western Collegiate Hockey Association after being swept by fourth-ranked Minnesota Duluth last week. The Mavericks will play host to #6 North Dakota this weekend. Friday’s contest is slated for a 7:07 p.m. start and Saturday’s at 3:07 p.m.

Program History: The 2010-11 season will mark the 13th year of women’s hockey as a varsity sport at Minnesota State…The Mavericks currently hold a 121-254-38 (.343) all-time record.

Follow the Leader: Junior defenseman Arial Mackley will serve as the team captain this season, with juniors forward Moira O’Connor and junior defenseman Jackie Otto as the alternate captains.

A Look at the Sioux: 
North Dakota is currently 4-2-0 overall in 2010-11 and 3-1-0-0 in the WCHA...UND is currently led by sophomore forwards and sisters Monique Lamoureux-Kolls who is the owner of nine points (5-4--9) and  Jocelyne Lamoureux who is the owner of six points (3-3--6)... In net for UND is Jorid Dagfinrud who has played in four games, owns a 3.78 gaa, 96 saves, a .865 sae percentage and a 2-2-0 record, along with Stephanie Ney who has played in two games, owner of a 1.50 gaa, 53 saves, a .946 save percentage and a 2-0-0 record...It took North Dakota into its ninth season to beat the University of Minnesota Gophers – last weekend they did it twice within the span of 22 hours...The Sioux swept the Gophers by scores of 4-3 and 3-1 at Ridder Arena to improve 4-2-0 and 3-1-0-0 in league play...Both Sara Dagenais and Jordan Slavin had four-point weekends for the Sioux.

MSU/UND History: The Minnesota State Mavericks are owners of a 18-7-5 overall record against North Dakota...The two teams faced-off twice last season, in which resulted in a 1-2-1 record in favor of UND...The Mavericks lone win last season came at home, a 3-2 victory for the Mavericks...Last season against UND, junior forward Emmi Leinonen led MSU in points with five (3-2--5), while senior forward Nina Tikkinen tallied three (0-3--3).
