#14 Mavericks Set to Face #3 Wayne State, Upper Iowa and Winona State

NSIC Action:  The Maverick volleyball squad, ranked 14th in the nation, owns a 14-5 overall record and a 6-5 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference mark after finishing last week, 1-1...MSU dropped a league contest to then sixth-rated Concordia University, 3-1, but regained their swagger Saturday night with a 3-1 win over the St. Cloud State Huskies...Minnesota State hits the road Tuesday for a league match agasint #3 Wayne State, returns home to host a couple of NSIC rivals, Upper Iowa and Winona State.

Program history: The 2010 volleyball season marks the 43rd year of volleyball as a varsity sport...Over the 43 seasons, the Mavericks hold a 677-549-8 record...The Mavericks have made seven NCAA post-season appearances, and they are: 1990, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Quick Notes: 
The Minnesota State Volleyball team is 14-5 overall, 6-5 in the NSIC...Senior outside hitter Amanda Beekman currently leads the team in kills with 245 (3.55) and sits fourth all-time on the kills list with 1,317...Senior right-side hitter Kimber Kuhl is the owner of a team-best .334 hitting percentage, while also sitting second on the team in kills with 182...Junior Brittany Stamer joined the Maverick 3,000 Assist Club, currently at 3,045 during her career, and is the owner of 801 on the year...Junior Alli Rice sits atop the team digs list with 214 this season...Senior middle blocker Amanda Thompson owns a team-best 55 blocks (0.80 blocks per set).

Wayne State Notes: The third-ranked Wayne State Wildcats currently own an 18-2 overall record and sit third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 9-2 NSIC mark...The Wildcats finished last week 2-0 with a 3-0 road win over Minnesota, Crookston and a 3-1 road win over MSU Moorhead...Leading Wayne State in kills is senior Jennifer Hefner and junior Tali Fredrickson who own 250 and 213 kills, respectively...Senior Diedra Artz leads WSU in assists with 801 and Hefner also leads the Wildcats in blocks with 80...The Mavericks are 11-5 all-time against Wayne State University...Earlier this year the Mavericks played host to the Wildcats, who were ranked #1 at the time, and defeated them, 3-1.

Upper Iowa Notes: The Upper Iowa Peacocks are currently 5-15 overall with a 3-9 league mark...The Peacocks finished last week 0-2, dropping a NSIC contest to Minnesota Duluth, 3-0, then dropping a league contest to Bemidji State, 3-1...Leading the Peacocks in kills this season is junior Sara Vance and junior Nicky Brown who own 219 and 158, respectively...Sophomore Skylar Lesan leads UIU in assists with 625 and Vance also leads the Peacocks in digs with 202...The Mavericks are 9-0 all-time against the Peacocks and went 2-0 against them last year, downing them 3-0 and 3-1.

Winona State Notes: The Winona State Warriors are currently 9-11 overall with a 4-8 league mark...The Warriors finished last week 1-1, defeating Bemidji State, 3-0,  then dropping a league contest to  Minnesota Duluth, 3-0...Leading the Warriors in kills this season is sophomore Kathy Lohff, sophomore Kate Horihan and junior Jessi Peterson who own 212, 149 and 149, respectively...Freshman Kayla Uhlenhake  leads WSU in assists with 518 and junior Shannon McGowan leads the Warriors in digs with 412...The Mavericks are 42-12 all-time against the Warriors...MSU defeated Winona State earlier this season, 3-0.
