Wayne, Neb. --- The Minnesota State volleyball team, ranked 14th in the nation, dropped a four-set match to the third-ranked Wayne State Wildcats Tuesday night.
The Mavericks struggled hitting the ball Tuesday night, finishing with a .127. The Wildcats came out in the first two sets and jumped out 2-0, winning by scores of 25-17 and 25-20. The Mavericks took the third 25-22, but fell to the Wildcats in the fourth, 25-17.
Sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty finished with an impressive outing, racking up 20 kills, a team-best .429 hitting percentage and 16 digs. Junior setter Brittany Stamer again finished with a team-best 42 assists and sophomore defensive specialist Samantha Dale tallied a team-best 28 digs.
The Mavericks (14-6 overall, 6-6 NSIC) will play host to Upper Iowa this Friday at Taylor Center. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
