Mankato, Minn.— The Minnesota State men’s and women’s cross country teams both posted first-place individual finishes at Caty’s Run in North Mankato Saturday.
The meet was originally scheduled to be run at Land of Memories Park, but due to last month’s heavy rains, Caty’s Run was moved to Dakota Meadows Park in North Mankato.
The men’s team was led by sophomore David Barmassai, who finished with a time of 19:08 in finishing first among the 20 competitors.
MSU sophomore Jacob Bastyr finished second with a time of 19:42. Other top finishers for the Mavericks included freshman Thomas Becker (third, 19:54), sophomore Nick Emmans (fourth, 19:58) and senior Dan Kromer (fifth, 20:18).
The women’s team was led by senior Jenny Hoese, who finished first with a personal best time of 14:53 among the 24 competitors.
MSU freshman Laura Hughes finished second with a time of 15:23. Other top finishers for the Mavericks included freshman Sarah Bowler (third, 15:32), freshman Alyssa Wojack (fourth, 15:42) and sophomore Kelsey Magnuson (fifth, 15:48).
Minnesota State continues action Nov. 6 at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships in Wayne, Neb.
