#14 Mavericks at Concordia and St. Cloud State this Weekend

NSIC Action: The Maverick volleyball squad, ranked 14th in the nation, owns a 13-4 overall record and a 5-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference mark after finishing last week, 2-0...MSU defeated the then top-ranked Wayne State Wildcats, 3-1 Friday night, then downed the Augustana Vikings Saturday, 3-0...Minnesota State hits the road for a couple of NSIC contests this weekend, Friday against Concordia University at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday against St. Cloud State at 4:00 p.m.

Program history: The 2010 volleyball season marks the 43rd year of volleyball as a varsity sport...Over the 43 seasons, the Mavericks hold a 676-548-8 record...The Mavericks have made seven NCAA post-season appearances: 1990, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2009.

Quick Notes: The Minnesota State volleyball squad is currently 13-4 overall with a 5-4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record...The Mavericks started the weekend with a 3-1 win over then top-ranked Wayne State, then defeated the Augustana Vikings 3-0 on Saturday...Senior outside hitter Amanda Beekman leads the Mavericks in kills with 208 and owns 1,280 kills over her career as a Maverick, tied for fourth all-time...Junior setter Brittany Stamer owns 695 assists and 2,939 during her career at MSU, 61 short of the Maverick 3,000 Assist Club...Junior defensive specialist Alli Rice owns 214 digs in 2010 and 894 during her career with the Mavericks, just 106 short of the Maverick 1,000 Dig Club.

Concordia Notes: The sixth-ranked Concordia University Golden Bears currently own a 15-4 overall record and sit atop the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 10-0 NSIC mark...The Golden Bears finished last week 3-0 with a 3-0 win at home over Winona State and a couple of road wins over Upper Iowa, 3-0, and Winona State, 3-0...CU then defeated Bemidji State this Tuesday, 3-0...Leading Concordia in kills is senior Emily Palkert and sophomore Cassie Haag who own 223 and 208 kills, respectively...Freshman Amanda Konetchy leads CU in assists with 765 and junior Taylor Fieldsted leads the Goldne Bears in digs with 224...The Mavericks are 2-10 all-time against Concordia University...Earlier this year the Mavericks played host to the Goldne Bears and suffered a 3-1 loss.

St. Cloud State Notes: The St. Cloud State Huskies are currently 12-5 overall with a 7-2 league mark...The Huskies finished last week 3-0, defeating Upper Iowa twice, 3-0 and 3-2, then downing Winona State, 3-1...Leading the Huskies in kills this season is senior Ashley Shields and senior Kayla Tschida who own 156 and 150, respectively...Junior Jennifer Waterman leads SCSU in assists with 613 and junior Chelsea Nagle leads the Huskies in digs with 279...The Mavericks are 39-48-1 all-time against the Huskies and went 2-0 against them last year.
