Box Score Mankato,  Minn.  ---  The Minnesota State University women wrapped up their series with the University  of Minnesota Duluth at All Seasons Arena on Saturday with a 2-1 loss.
The  Bulldogs tallied the game’s opening goal late in the first period when rookie  forward Jessica Wong beat Maverick goaltender Alli Altmann glove-side for  the Bulldog score. Seniors Jaime Rasmussen and Saara Tuminen earned assists on  the goal.
The  Mavericks finished a scoreless second period of hockey by killing off seven  minutes of Bulldog power play chances. Atmann had six saves in the period, five  of them coming on the penalty kill.
UMD  increased their lead to 2-0 early in the third, rookie center Katie Wilson  scored off of a rebound. Laura Fridfinnson and Jocelyne Larocque earned the assists.
With  12:29 left in the contest, senior and alternate captain Ashley Young  tallied her sixth goal of the season on a two on one break away. Junior  forward Nina Tikkinen set up the goal with a nice cross-net  pass. Senior forward Christina Lee also earned an assist on the goal.
The  Mavericks had a power play chance with 3:55 left in the game but couldn’t  capitalize with the extra skater. 
The  Bulldogs outshot the Mavericks 22-20 in the contest, while both teams finished  0-4 with an extra skater.
The  Mavericks travel to Minneapolis, Minn. to take on the Golden Gophers. Friday’s  contest will start at 7:07 pm and Saturday’s game at 4:07 pm. Both games will be  played at Ridder Arena.
