Starkville, Miss. - Minnesota State sophomore third baseman Natalie Spicer has been named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association First-Team All-Central Region.
Spicer, a who hails from Minnetonka, Minn., batted .300 this season for the Mavericks with nine home runs, six doubles and 40 runs batted in, which was tied for the team high. Spicer owned a slugging percentage of .520 and an on base percentage of .421 while fielding .966 from the hot corner.
Spicer is now eligible for the national ballot.
Sophomore first baseman Julie O’Neal was tabbed to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Second-Team All-Central Region squad. O’Neal was sixth on the team in hitting this year with a .310 batting average and had nine doubles, one triple and one home run to compliment her 28 RBI. She slugged .393 and had an on base percentage of .369 to go with a fielding percentage of .997.
Minnesota State finished the 2009 season with a 39-17 record and earned an NCAA tournament appearance for the third consecutive season.
