#14 Minnesota State Volleyballers Fall to Northern State

Aberdeen, S.D.--- Minnesota State University traveled to Aberdeen, South Dakota Friday night for a NSIC showdown with the Wolves from Northern State University.  The Wolves defeated the Mavericks in four sets by the scores of 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, and 24-26, respectively.

Freshman defensive specialist Samantha Dale (Alexandria, Minn.) led the Mavericks defensively with 23 digs.  Sophomore setter Brittany Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) and freshman outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty (Belle Plaine, Minn.) also contributed 16 and 15 digs, respectively. Junior middle blocker Kimber Kuhl and senior right-side All Kwikkel each had three blocks in the loss for MSU.

Offensively, Fogarty led the team in kills with 23. Junior outside Amanda Beekman (Marshall, Minn.) finished with 14.  Stamer continued to set up teammates earning 49 assists.

As a team the Mavericks had 59 kills to NSU’s 52 and had 93 digs to the Wolves 96.

Minnesota State University, now 25-6 overall and 15-4 in conference play, will continue close out the season on the road tomorrow against Mary at 4:00 p.m.
