Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks entertained the eleventh ranked Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon and defeated the Bulldogs 3-1. MSU was victorious by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-23.
Senior outside hitter
Amanda Beekman (Marshall, Minn.) continued to lead the way for the Mavericks, earning a team-high 16 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Chelsea Fogarty (Bell Plaine, Minn.) and senior right-side hitter
Ally Kwikkel (Waverly, Iowa) also contributed on the attack earning 14 and 11, respectively. Setting up the hitters was starting setter, sophomore
Brittany Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) who finished with a team best 48 assists.
Defensively, sophomore defensive specialist
Alli Rice (Owatonna, Minn.) returned to digging form after being injured last weekend, earning 18 digs. Junior middle blocker
Amanda Thompson (Stewartville, Minn.) continued her blocking ways with a team-high four.
The Minnesota State volleyball squad will continue NSIC competition next weekend when they travel to Marshall, Minn., to take on Southwest Minnesota State. The match will have a 3:00 p.m. start time.
