Minnesota State Travels to Upper Iowa Saturday

What Lies Ahead:  Minnesota State travels to Fayette, Iowa, Saturday for a 1 p.m., kickoff against Upper Iowa.

What's in a Win: A win would push MSU's record to 10-0, matching a school record for wins in a season...The 1993 team finished 10-3...MSU has never started 10-0...A win would be MSU's sixth straight Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road victory...A win would push MSU's all-time record against Upper Iowa to 4-0.

Understanding Upper Iowa:  
Upper Iowa enters the week owners of a 2-7 record, including a 1-7 mark in the NSIC.  Last week, UIU suffered a 57-56 double-overtime loss to Concordia University.  The Peacocks totalled 450 yards of  total offense in the loss, including 301 in the air. 
   
Sophomore running back Mike Moser led the Peacocks in rushing during the game carrying the ball 11 times for 60 yards and three touchdowns.  Junior quarterback Ben Curran completed 25-of-44 passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns while Jesse Hubbard caught six passes for 100 yards.  Defensively junior defensive back Nate Curran led the team with 10 tackles and two interceptions.
   
For the season, the Peacocks are averaging 31 points per game while allowing 40.7  UIU is averaging 158.3 yards per game on the ground and 247 yards per game in the air.  Sophomore running back Jordan Otdoerfer leads UIU in rushing with 420 yards this season, averaging 60 yards per game and 5.8 yards per rush.  Curran has completed 168-of-279 passes (60.2 percent) for 1,949 yards and 11 touchdowns while Hubbard leads the team in receiving with 44 catches for 733 yards and four touchdowns.  Senior linebacker Aaron Miller has 84 tackles this season to pace the squad.

Series Info:
  Saturday's meeting marks the fourth game in the series and the second time that he two teams have played as members of the NSIC.  MSU owns a 3-0 record against UIU, including a 35-14 win last November in Mankato.  MSU is 1-0 in Fayette, earning a 38-0 win on Oct. 15, 2005.

According to www.weather.com, Saturday's forecast for Fayette, Iowa, is calling for a high of 52 degrees with partly cloudy skies and windy conditions.   There is a 10 percent chance of rain.

Minnesota State, which is ranked #4 in this week's AFCA Coaches pool are just one of three teams in the nation with an undefeated record, joining #1 North Alabama (9-0) and #2 Central Washington (9-0).
