Mavericks Go 4-1 Sunday in Finishing Fifth at Greater Ozark Invitational

      Springfield, Mo. —  The Minnesota State women’s bowling team went 4-1 Sunday in finishing fifth at the Greater Ozark Invitational, a three-day long event which was hosted by Central Missouri State.

Today’s matches were all Baker Format, best four-out-of-seven.

The 12th rated Mavericks earned a 4-2 win over #4 Central Missouri in their first match today (167-172, 168-158, 164-192, 209-136, 183-174, 214-188) with senior Lisa Hoover rolling a crucial three-strike tenth frame to propel MSU to the victory in the fifth game

MSU then posted a 4-2 win over #20 Valparaiso (218-183, 148-165, 192-170, 224-186, 191-225, 196-161) and downed #14 Southern, 4-3 (236-200, 151-223, 213-168, 172-182, 200-144, 178-199, 202-178), before dropping a 4-2 decision to Stephen F. Austin (233-150, 216-234, 168-204, 196-169, 124-214, 172-179).

The Mavericks then closed out tournament action with a 4-2 win over Valparaiso (209-198, 188-180, 170-179, 223-187, 169-222, 234-181).

MSU’s Hoover was named All-Tournament in leading the Mavericks to a fifth-place finish in the ten-team event which was won by #2 Vanderbilt.

Now 7-6 for 2009-10, the Mavericks are scheduled to play a the Husker Open in Lincoln, Neb., Nov. 5-7 in their next action.
