Mavericks Put Up 2-3 Mark in 2nd-Day Action at Greater Ozark Invitational
Minnesota State Downs #1 Nebraska in First Match Saturday
Springfield, Mo. — The Minnesota State women’s bowling team posted a 2-3 record Saturday at the Greater Ozark Invitational, a three-day long event which is hosted by the Central Missouri State.
The Mavericks opened today’s action with a 979-885 win over #1-rated and defending national champion Nebraska. Senior Lisa Hoover led MSU by rolling a 217 and freshman Jamie Stockw.ell knocked down 206 pins in the win.
After a 1018-882 loss to #14 Southern and a 962-901 loss to #20 Valparaiso, the Mavericks ralled from a 70-pin deficit to claima 911-908 win over Stephen F. Austin. Hoover threw strikes in each of her last six frames, including notching three strikes in the 10th in the anchor position to clinch the come-from-behind victory. MSU closed out the day with a 976-952 loss to Louisiana Tech.
Now 3-6 for 2009-10, the Mavericks conclude play Sunday, with the opponents to be announced in a bracket-style finish. Tomorrow’s action will be Baker Format, Best 4-out-of-7.
