Minnesota State and North Dakota Tie on Sunday Afternoon

Box Score Grand Forks, N.D. – The Minnesota State women’s hockey team wrapped up their first Western Conference Hockey Association (WCHA) series at North Dakota with a 1-1 tie. After Overtime, sophomore forward Emmi Leinonen earned the only goal in the shootout.

The Fighting Sioux earned the first goal of the game when Mary Loken scored 4:55 into the first period. Loken was assisted by Alyssa Weibe and Candance Molle.

Entering the second period down 1-0, the Mavericks tied up the game with Emmi Leinonen’s fifth goal of the year 10:00 into the second period. Leinonen was assisted by Nina Tikkenin and Christina Lee.

Sophomore goalie Alli Altmann remains undefeated with a 3-0-1 record. Altmann earned 23 saves in the game and a .968 save percentage.

Leinonen currently leads the Mavericks in points with seven and Snyder owns a team best four assists on the year.

The Mavericks next action will take place October 30 and 31 in Columbus, Ohio against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both games will take place at 7:07 p.m. (est.).
