Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks played host to first ranked Concordia University and were shutout in three sets. MSU was defeated by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-20. With the loss, the Mavericks end their best winning streak since 1993, earning 12 straight victories.
Individually, freshman outside hitter Chelsea Fogarty (Bell Plaine, Minn.) led the Mavericks in kills with eight. Senior right-side hitter Ally Kwikkel (Waverly, Iowa) and junior outside hitter Amanda Beekman (Marshall, Minn.) each tallied seven kills. Junior middle blocker Kimber Kuhl (Chaska, Minn.) tallied five kills and a team leading .444 hitting percentage. Sophomore setter Brittany Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) earned a team best 39 assists.
Defensively, sophomore defensive specialist Alli Rice (Owatonna, Minn.) led the team in digs, earning 15; Stamer tallied nine.
The Maverick volleyball team, 20-3 overall and 10-1 NSIC, will continue action tomorrow night, as they will play host to St. Cloud State at 4:00 p.m. at Taylor Center.
