Drew Hawthorne was a student assistant coach for Minnesota State Women's Tennis in 2021, then transitioned to volunteer assistant coach for the 2022 season and assistant coach in 2024. On May 6, 2025 Hawthorne was named the head coach of the Minnesota State women's tennis team.
Hawthorne is from Morgantown, West Virginia. He played NCAA Division II collegiate tennis for Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia from 2018-2020. He was formerly a tennis teaching professional at Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown, West Virginia from 2018-2020 and became certified as a teaching professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association in 2020.
Hawthorne graduated from Minnesota State in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Aviation - professional flight.
