Biography
2016-17: Named to the NSIC All-Academic Team…Finished in 18th place in the 1,650 freestyle event at the NSIC Championships with a time of 19:23.73…Turned in a time of 5:28.19 in the 500 freestyle at the NSIC Championships.
2015-16: Finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle event at the UW-Steven’s Point Invite with a time of 57.26…Also took 10th place in the 200-yard freestyle event at the UWSP Invite with a time of 2:04.24…Took third place in the 50-yard freestyle event against MSU Moorhead with a time of 25.18.
High School: Barnes was the top point scorer for River Falls High School during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons..Was named freshman of the year and received second team all-conference honors in a number of events including the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay...Currently holds the school record in the 50-yard freestyle...Was named team captain her senior season and qualified for the State Championship meet in the 100-yard freestyle where she placed 14th with a time of 55.44.
Personal: Kate is the daughter of Mike and Theresa Barnes...Born May 8, 1997...She will be pursuing a major in marketing at Minnesota State.
