Chris White enters his first season as a member of the MSU coaching staff and will serve as the team’s diving coach.
“I’m excited to have Chris join our staff as our new diving coach,” head coach Nathan Owens said. “Chris recently completed a very distinguished diving career that was filled with athletic awards and accolades.
“He also has a lot of coaching experience throughout these past few years. He knows the sport and will get the most our of his athletes.”
A former member of the St. Cloud State swimming and diving team, White has served as a diving coach for the past three years. Recently, he has served as the assistant diving coach for the Orca Swim Club since April and as the diving coach for the Owatonna school district 761 since November.
"I’m really excited to be joining this team,” White said. “It will be an honor to give back to the sport and I look forward to helping others achieve their goals.”
Prior to coaching in southern Minnesota, White served as the diving coach St. Cloud area school district 742 for 17 months where he helped divers develop teamwork, goal setting and strong work ethics.
As a student-athlete, White excelled for St. Cloud State as he set the NCAA Division II record in the three meter springboard event, en route to being named the NCAA Division II Male Diver of the Year in 2012. He also excelled out of the pool as he garnered several academic honors, including a Capital One Academic All-American First Team honor in 2012 and a Scholar All-American award in 2010 from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
White earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from St. Cloud State in 2013 and is will pursue a graduate degree in business administration at Minnesota State.
