Minnesota State men's golf head coach Bryant Black began his tenure as head coach of the Minnesota State men's golf program in the summer of 2014.
In his first year in charge of the Mavericks, Black guided his team to the 2014-15 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament championship. Black, who was named 2014-15 NSIC Coach of the Year, led Minnesota State to a fifth-place tie at the 2015 NCAA DII Midwest/Central Region Championship. Black also guided the Mavericks to a NSIC title in 2016 with the team also earning a 17th-place finish at the 2016 NCAA DII Midwest/Central Region Tournament.
The Mavericks won their third straight NSIC championship in 2017 under Black's guidance and he was selected NSIC Men's Golf Coach of the Year for the second time in his tenure. Minnesota State again qualified for the NCAA tournament where it posted a 17th-place finish at the Midwest/Central Regional.
Black, who served as the business manager for Alexandria Blizzard and Brookings Blizzard in both the North American Hockey league and North American 3 Hockey League and currently is the general manager of New Ulm Steel of the North American 3 Hockey League, was a two-year team captain for the Mavericks.
A native of Alexandria, Minn., Black played on Minnesota State teams that won two NSIC titles (2009 and 2010) and made appearances in three NCAA regional tournaments (2008, 2009 and 2010). Black has qualified for multiple Minnesota Golf Association events along with the U.S. Junior Amateur tournament. He graduated from Minnesota State in 2010 with a degree in sport management.
Black, who also earned a master's degree from Minnesota State in sport management in 2011, is married and his wife's name is Meghan.
