Matt Kolb has been a part of the Minnesota State track and field teams for nearly 25 years. In 2004 and 2005, Kolb played an instrumental role in helping guide pole vaulter Amanda Frame to an NCAA Division II indoor title. Kolb has also coached many All-Americans.
As a student-athlete for MSU (1983-86), Kolb was a three-time indoor and four-time outdoor conference champion and record holder. The two-time NCAA Division II All-American and one-time Division I All-American would continue his record-breaking performances after college. He was the recipient of the bronze medal at the 1987 Olympic Festival in the pole vault and holds the best-ever height in Minnesota history in the pole vault (18-3).
In 2009 Kolb was named USTFCCCA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
