Christ Rombough was named the associate head men's cross country coach in the summer of 2016. A native of New London, Wis., Rombough, spent the previous two years as the co-head cross country coach and assistant track & field coach at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
A volunteer men's cross country and track & field coach at the University of Minnesota from 2010-13, Rombough's responsibilities with the Gophers included practice plan development and application, race strategy creation, home meet management, planning and implementing team travel and recruiting. He also recruited high school student-athletes and was responsible for prospective recruit contact and coordinating on-campus recruiting visits. He helped coach student-athletes to one Big Ten Indoor team conference Championship, five Big Ten individual titles and 12 All-Americans. Rombough also coached one season at St. Paul Central High School as an assistant cross country coach of the boys and girls teams. He led both teams to conference championships and one participant to the individual title. He helped qualify two student-athletes to the MSHSL State Championships for the first time. Both earned All-State honors.
Rombough ran both cross country and track & field at the University of Minnesota for four seasons. In track & field he competed in races ranging from 1,500-10,000-meters. He served as team captain from August 2007 – June 2010 and helped lead the team to four Big Ten indoor and outdoor track & field championships. Rombough finished his career as three-time All-American and Big Ten Champion in cross country and a three-time All-American and Big Ten Champion in track & field.
Rombough earned his undergraduate degree from Minnesota in coaching and communication studies in 2010.
