Biography

As a Maverick: Four-time letterwinner (2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19)....Completed college career with 25-72--97 in 158 games played...97 points ranks first all-time amongst all Minnesota State defensemen for the program's NCAA DI-era...158 games played stands tied for fifth on school's all-time list.

2019-20:  2018-19 All-WCHA Third Team...Had 3-19--22 in 37 games as a senior...+21 tied for second on the team...Scored game-tying goal last in the third period and also scored in second overtime in 2-2 tie at Alaska Anchorage Feb. 1...Had three assists in 8-0 home win over Alabama Huntsville Feb. 22...Had a goal and an assist in both game of two-game WCHA home playoff sweep over Alaska Anchorage March 6-7...2019-20 WCHA All-Academic.

2018-19: 2018-19 All-WCHA Third Team...Recorded five goals in his third campaign as a Maverick...Led Maverick defensemen in assists with 20...Claimed WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors with three assists in a series against Alaska Anchorage (Dec. 8-9)...Blocked 50 shots and finished the season with +16 +/- rating...2018-19 WCHA All-Academic.

2017-18:  All-WCHA Third Team selection...Finished eighth on team scoring charts with 9-17--26...Ranked fifth in WCHA scoring by defensemen with 6-13--19 in 28 games...Tied for third on team with six power play goals...Tied for sixth on team with two game-winning goals...Ranked fourth on team with 106 shots on goal...Scored twice in 6-1 home win over Bowling Green (Nov. 17)...Scored twice in 7-0 win at Lake Superior State (Dec. 9)...Played in all 40 games...WCHA All-Academic.

2016-17:  2016-17 WCHA All-Rookie Team member, registered 8-16--24 to rank sixth on team scoring chart and ranked as one of the top-scoring freshmen defensemen in the country...Led Minnesota State with a +16 rating...Played all 39 games for Minnesota State in debut season...Had 1-1--2 in 7-1 win at Alaska (Oct. 21)...Scored first career game-winning goal in 4-2 victory over Ferris State (Oct. 28)...Posted two assists in 4-1 home win over Minnesota (Nov. 18)...Had a goal and an assist in 2-2 tie with Lake Superior State Jan. 28...Had two assists in 7-4 home win over Northern Michigan (Feb. 18)...Picked up team's Most Improved Player Award at end-of-the-year banquet.

THE SCHEID FILE:  Played the first five games of the 2015-16 season with Fargo (USHL) before being traded to Sioux City where he had 5 goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 47 games...Spent the 2014-15 campaign with Austin (NAHL) where he registered 12-23--35 in 55 games with the Bruins and was named NAHL All-Rookie First Team...Four-year letterwinner at Blaine (Minn.) High School where he was a finalist for the Reed Larson Award as the top high school defenseman in the state as a senior in 2013-14...Father (Jim) was a forward at the University of Wisconsin from 1976-80 and brother (Eric) was a forward at Penn State from 2013-16.
