Following a 14-year professional playing career, former Maverick forward Tim Jackman joined the Minnesota State coaching staff as an undergraduate assistant coach in 2016-17.

Jackman, who scored 25 goals and had 28 assists for 53 points in 73 games in two seasons for Minnesota State (2000-01 and 2001-02), was a 2001 second-round draft choice of the Columbus Blue Jackets following his freshman season in Mankato. He made his National Hockey League debut Dec. 20, 2003 when Columbus played the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul, Minn. In doing so, he became the first former Minnesota State player to play in the NHL.

A native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Jackman saw action in 483 NHL games, playing for Columbus, Phoenix, Los Angeles, New York Islanders, Calgary and Anaheim.  

He and his wife, Chelsey, have a son (James).
