Caty Delwiche Endowment
Catherine Lee Delwiche was the best daughter, sister, friend & teammate you could wish for! She committed her life to Jesus Christ at a young age and worked to live her life according to Philippians 2:3-5
"Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had."
This is why during her years at Glencoe Silver Lake Caty was known throughout much of the state as a great sportsman, always at the end of a race, greeting and congratulating her fellow athletes.
Steve Prefontaine’s quote “To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift” was a favorite of Caty’s. She was gifted in many areas, but was particularly good at HARD WORK and giving her best!! This truly showed in her life and accomplishments.
To name a few:
- 2007 GSL Tri-valedictorian, multiple scholarship awards including Mankato’s Presidential scholarship and an athletic scholarship.
- National Honor Society member.
- Nine times all conference, including 2005 and 2006 conference champion in CC, 2006 conference champion in the 1600 meter, and 2006 & 2007 conference champion in the 3200 meter.
- Four individual trips to the state CC meet, with her highest finish 11th and two years all-state, MSHSL State CC champions in 2004 (Glencoe Silver Lake).
- Fourth place in the 3200 meter at the 2007 MSHSL State Track & Field meet.
In addition to scholastic and athletic accomplishments, Caty was a very giving person, working with children at her local church, volunteering with Migrant HeadStart, and going on four mission trips to Monterrey Mexico where she volunteered at an orphanage, Vacation Bible School, food distribution, language interpretation & praying with people facing tough times.
These attributes carried over to her time at MSU. As her former teammates stated - she was always there to encourage and cheer on her teammates. When training, she pushed herself, which helped others push themselves to do their best. When she couldn’t train she was there with encouragement, cheering and a positive attitude. Her smile was contagious and would light up a room. She was an all-around amazing person, an amazing friend, teammate and athlete. She will never be forgotten by anyone who ever met or knew her.
CATY LOVED JESUS, FAMILY AND RUNNING , IN THAT ORDER AND HELD ONTO HER HIGH SCHOOL COACHES OLD ADAGE “IT’S A GREAT DAY TO RUN!”
