Colton Hush and senior
Drake Hayward have claimed All-American honors at the NCAA Championships. Hush (141 lbs) finished in third place, while Hayward (174 lbs.) took seventh place.
Sophomore
Colton Hush (141 lbs.) began the day with a pair of decision wins to advance to the third place match. He bested Central Missouri's James Wright 8-5, before defeating Lander's Elijah Lusk 9-4. In the third place match, Hush took on UMary's Sean Solis. Hush trailed 3-1 into the third round, but an escape, a takedown and riding time gave him the 6-4 decision win.
Senior
Drake Hayward (174 lbs.) began the day with a 4-3 decision loss to St. Cloud State's Bryce Dagel. In the seventh place match against Maryville's Cole Ritter, Hayward recorded the only two takedowns of the match as he worked his way to an 8-1 win to secure seventh place.
As a team, Minnesota State finished in 18th place at the NCAA Championships with 24 points.
Head Coach
Jim Makovsky was named this year's Division II Bob Bubb Award for Coaching Excellence winner in Sioux Falls. It is voted on annually by Division II coaches across the country and given by the National Wrestling Coaching Association (NWCA).
