MANKATO, Minn. -- The No. 3 Minnesota State (12-1-1, 9-1-1 NSIC) offense stayed hot as they scored five goals as they blanked MSU Moorhead (3-9-2, 2-8-1 NSIC) 5-0. MSU outshot MSUM 20-4, led by Anna Stromberg who scored two goals.

Stromberg continues her hot streak, scoring for a third straight game, Amara Smith scored her team-leading eighth of the year and added two assists. Mila Rustin scored while Maddix Archer dished out two assists during the match. Lauren McAlpine had an easy day, needing to make just one save to record her 12th shutout of the season.

After a couple shots by Archer and Smith in the opening minutes, Stromberg headed a ball just past the Dragon goalkeeper to put the Mavericks up one. She was assisted on the play by Reese Hilsenbeck and Archer. MSU would continue putting pressure on with multiple shots before McAlpine made her lone save of the match in the 15th minute, making a routine save on a Sophie Thompson shot. Five minutes later Elan Litt connected with Smith, who found the back of the net with a beautiful shot to make it 2-0. The rest of the half was relatively quiet as both teams traded possession in the middle portion of the pitch. Lauren Schindler recorded the only other shot on net which was saved in the 33rd minute as the half ended with a 2-0 Maverick lead.

Meghan Sullivan tested the Dragon keeper early in the second half before receiving a yellow card in the 52nd minute. Stromberg would add her second of the match, finding herself behind the Dragon defense and burying a shot to make it 3-0. She has now scored in three straight matches after not scoring in the first 11. Rustin would make it 4-0 shortly after as Archer crossed a ball to her and after an initial shot attempt was blocked, Rustin did not miss on her second attempt, scoring her fourth of the season. Smith would add her second assist of the game on the play.

Both teams would trade offensive rushes but neither were able to put a shot on net before Schindler and Megan Przybilla would have shots saved. Abby Hoiska would get an opportunity for a penalty kick at 80:09. Hoiska's shot fooled the Dragon goalkeeper as it found the bottom left corner to give the Mavericks a 5-0 lead, which they would hold until the end. MSU has now scored four or more goals in three straight matches.

The offense looks to stay hot as they take on Minnesota Crookston on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at The Pitch to close out their regular season home slate.
