WACO, Texas --- The Minnesota State football team has improved to seventh in the latest edition of the AFCA Poll.
MSU, which was ranked eighth last week, improved one spot in the poll after defeating Minot State 34-16 last weekend at Blakeslee Stadium.
The Mavericks are one of three NSIC teams ranked in the top-25. Augustana improved to 11th in the rankings after defeating Jamestown 37-7 last weekend. Minnesota Duluth entered the poll this week in a tie for 24th with Pittsburg State after besting Concordia-St. Paul 61-7 on the road. Sioux Falls is receiving votes.
With Minnesota State set to face Minnesota Duluth on the road this Saturday at 4:00 p.m., this will mark the 25th time that the Mavericks have faced an AFCA ranked opponent during the regular season since 2011.
This will also be the seventh time since the 2011 season that both the Mavericks and Bulldogs were ranked in the top-25 for a regular season matchup. MSU owns a 4-2 record against UMD in their previous ranked encounters since 2011.
