The season begins on the road, when the Mavericks travel to University of Nebraska Omaha for a two-game series Oct. 10-11. The non-conference road trip continues the following week at University of Wisconsin Oct. 16-17. MSU is home to host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Oct. 24-25. All home games are played at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato.

"We look forward to our competitive non-conference schedule, including Big Ten, NCHC, Hockey East and ECAC programs to raise our bar out of conference in preparation for the tight CCHA schedule," said head coach Luke Strand."

The CCHA calendar begins Oct. 31 in a weekend series against CCHA runner-up St. Thomas. Then the Mavericks welcome Bowling Green Oct. 7-8 and travel to Lake Superior State Nov. 14-15. The Michigan Tech Huskies are in town Nov. 21-22 before MSU journeys to Northern Michigan (Nov. 28-29).

MSU's only home series in December pits them against Ferris State (Dec. 5-6). Then the team heads west to Augustana (Dec. 12-13), where it will play the Vikings at Midco Arena for the first time.

The Mavericks participate in the Coachella Cactus Cup Jan. 1-2. There will be four teams competing at Ariscure Arena in Palm Springs, California. The two-game series began last season at the home of the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds, an affiliate of the National Hockey League's Seattle Kraken, and is a showcase of college hockey in the greater Palm Springs area. Semifinals take place Friday. Winners play one another in the championship and losers appear in a consolation matchup.

Minnesota State returns to southern Minnesota to host St. Thomas on Jan. 10, then heads north to Michigan Tech Jan. 16-17. Augustana is in town Jan. 24 and the Mavericks travel to Ferris State Jan. 30-31. The regular season concludes with home series against Bemidji State (Feb. 13-14) and Northern Michigan (Feb. 27-28) with a trip to Bowling Green (Feb. 20-21) in between.

The CCHA quarterfinals begin Mar. 6 (higher seeds host). The NCAA Tournament opens play March 27-29 with regional sites in Albany, N.Y., Loveland, Colo., Sioux Falls, S.D. and Worcester, Mass.

Last season, the Mavericks finished 27-9-3 overall, including 18-5-3 in the CCHA. In head coach Luke Strand's second campaign, the team won the MacNaughton Cup (CCHA Regular Season) and the Mason Cup (CCHA Tournament), and made their 10th NCAA appearance. Minnesota State skated in the Fargo Regional Tournament, where the Mavericks pushed eventual National Champion Western Michigan to double-overtime and fell 2-1 at Scheels Arena.
