SMITHVILLE, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team led from start to finish all weekend as the Mavericks claimed their second NSIC Championship in program history Sunday.

Minnesota State will now advance on to the NCAA Central Region Championship that will be held at the Kicking Bird Golf Course in Edmond, Okla. on May 5-7.

"I'm so proud of these girls and the way they battled through some tough conditions to start the day," head coach Alex Schmitz said. "I'm equally as proud of Emmerson and the way she continued to grind and finish strong!"

The three-round NSIC Championships were held at the par-72 Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo. Minnesota State finished first in the team standings as it shot 300-305-316—921 (+57), to finish 11 strokes ahead of second place Augustana which shot a 314-309-309—932 (+68). This is the second time that MSU has won the NSIC Championship, with the first time coming during the 2018-19 season.

Freshman Emerson Garlie received individual medalist honors as she finished first in the individual standings with a 72-73-73—218 (+2). Garlie recorded four birdies in round three, including three on the back nine.

Garlie, along with her teammate sophomore Victoria Woytassek, were named to the NSIC Women's Golf All-Tournament Team. Woytassek finished fifth in the individual standings as she shot a 73-78-80—231 (+15).
