SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 1 doubles team of Avery Stilwell and Freia Lawrence overcame ranked opponents but the Mavericks lost three third set tiebreakers in singles and ultimately came up short 6-1 to No. 21 ranked Augustana at Heuther Match Pointe late Saturday night in NSIC tennis.
 
Stilwell and Lawrence upset No. 23 Nicole Dufour and Fernanda Sandoval 6-2. Still, the Vikings grabbed the team doubles points with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
 
In singles, No. 65 Dufour over Lawrence at No. 1 2-6, 6-2, 10-4. Stilwell also won the first set at No. 2 but fell 5-7, 6-1, 10-5 to Fernanda Sandoval. McKenna DeMarce collected a point for the Mavericks at No. 3 with a comeback 1-6, 7-6, 10-7 victory over Gabriela Jancikova. Elizabeth Felderman, Taina Cordeiro and Georgia Deml all fell in straight sets as the Vikings snapped MSU's five-match winning streak.
 
The Mavericks (8-2, 5-1 NSIC) play next at Bemidji State on Friday, April 4 at 5 p.m. CT. The Vikings (10-4, 4-0 NSIC) have won 23 straight matchups against Minnesota State since 2010 and remained perfect in conference matches this spring.
