CLERMONT, Fla. --- Minnesota State wrapped up its Florida trip with a pair of wins Friday morning as the Mavericks defeated Indiana, Pa. 6-1 before besting Purdue Northwest 6-0.
MSU now owns a 16-10 record on the season. The Mavericks went 10-2 during the trip to Florida.
Minnesota State opens its NSIC schedule on Saturday, March 22 as it travels to Northern State. First pitches for the doubleheader are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Minnesota State vs. Indiana, Pa. Recap
Minnesota State began the day with a 6-1 win over the Indiana, Pa. Crimson Hawks.
Junior
Sailor Hall (7-3) earned the win as she allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out three. Sophomore
Chloe Brandt threw one inning in relief and allowed just one hit. Kendall Young (5-2) took the loss as she gave up six runs on 12 hits.
The Mavericks got on the scoreboard right away in the top of the first as they built a 3-0 lead. A walk and a fielder's choice put freshman

Cheyenne Behrends on first and second. Both would then steal a base, before coming around to score on a throwing error by the catcher to put MSU up 2-0. The Mavericks added one more in the inning as senior
Ella Schulz double to left center, before coming around to score on a single by
Gianna Lara.
Minnesota State added three more runs in the top of the sixth to increase its lead to 6-0. With two outs, Behrends double to left center. Freshman
Ireland Broderick pinch ran for Behrends who then came around to score on a single from freshman
Finley Anderson. Schulz then stepped up to the plate and blasted a two-run home run to right center before the Crimson Hawks got the final out.
The Crimson Hawks managed to get a run across with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, but a great throw from the left fielder Anderson to Schulz caught the trailing runner at the plate as MSU took a 6-1 lead into the seventh.
Both teams would leave a pair of runners on base in the seventh as the Mavericks came away with the 6-1 win.
Schulz finished with two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. Behrends, Anderson and sophomore
Maddie Helin each recorded two hits also.

Minnesota State finished the day with a 6-0 shutout of Purdue Northwest.
Sophomore
Chloe Brandt (1-0) threw a six hit shutout as she struck out two batters. Abby Bond (1-2) took the loss as she gave up six runs, on eight hits, in six innings of work.
After a pair of scoreless innings to open the game, the Mavericks got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Freshman
Finley Anderson led off the inning with single to right field before stealing second. Anderson moved up to third on a single by senior
Cheyenne Behrends before coming in to score on a ground out by sophomore
Izzy Hycnar.
The Mavericks still led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth. The MSU defense came up with a pair of double plays in the top of the fifth and sixth innings to keep the Pride scoreless.
Minnesota State then put together a five-run bottom of the sixth as it increased its lead to 6-0. Freshman

Finley Anderson scored two more.
Brandt then left a Purdue Northwest runner stranded on first in the top of the seventh as she locked down the 6-0 shutout.
Anderson finished the game with two RBI and two hits. Hycnar recorded two hits also.
