MANKATO, Minn. — No. 2 Minnesota State (13-0-2, 11-0-1 NSIC) is set to host Augustana and Wayne State this weekend at The Pitch. On Friday, the Mavericks and the Vikings (10-2-3, 8-2-2 NSIC) will face off at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup against the Wildcats (6-5-4, 5-5-2 NSIC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Mavericks enter the weekend after sweeping Minnesota Crookston and MSU Moorhead on the road.

On Friday, Minnesota State earned a 2-0 victory over Minnesota Crookston at UMC Soccer Field, remaining undefeated in NSIC play. The Mavericks dominated offensively, firing 24 shots — 15 of them on target — while sophomore goalkeeper Lauren McAlpine collected her 13th shutout of the season. Both Maverick goals came in the second half.

Minnesota State applied early pressure as Maddix Archer's shot hit the crossbar in just the second minute. Despite multiple offside calls, the Mavericks controlled possession and tempo throughout the first half, outshooting the Golden Eagles but heading into halftime tied 0-0.

Just a minute into the second half, Maille Mathis opened the scoring in the 46th minute off assists from Addison Clarey and Courtney Kovacs. Mila Rustin doubled the lead in the 66th minute with help from Abby Hoiska, sealing the 2-0 win.

On Sunday, Minnesota State maintained its dominant form, defeating MSU Moorhead 2-0 behind a 29-shot effort, 16 of which were on goal. McAlpine tallied five saves for her 14th shutout of the season as the Mavericks improved to 8-0 on the road. The victory also secured Minnesota State a home match in the first round of the NSIC Tournament on Monday, Nov. 10.

Addison Clarey opened the scoring in the ninth minute, while Amara Smith added the insurance goal in the 71st. McAlpine's stellar play in net anchored another clean sheet, while Clarey led the Mavericks with seven shots, including three on target.

McAlpine continues to lead all of Division II with a .960 save percentage and ranks first nationally in shutouts.
