MANKATO, Minn. – No. 2 Minnesota State women's soccer team hits the road this weekend for a pair of NSIC matchups, taking on Minnesota Crookston (1-10-2, 0-9-1 NSIC) on Friday at 3 p.m. and MSU Moorhead (3-9-1, 2-8 NSIC) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

The Mavericks enter the weekend coming off a dominant sweep against Concordia-St. Paul and Winona State.

On Friday, Minnesota State earned a 1-0 win over Concordia-St. Paul. The first half saw a strong defensive showing from the Mavericks, led by sophomore goalkeeper Lauren McAlpine, who made several key saves to keep the Golden Bears off the board. Offensively, Reese Hilsenbeck, Maddix Archer, and Courtney Kovacs generated early chances, but both sides entered halftime scoreless.

In the second half, Minnesota State maintained its attacking pressure, and in the 78th minute, senior Anna Van Wyngarden converted a penalty kick to give the Mavericks the lead. McAlpine made a crucial late save to preserve the advantage, finishing with six stops and her 11th shutout of the season. Van Wyngarden led the offense with two shots on goal, while Archer tallied four total shots, including two on target.

On Sunday, the Mavericks continued their winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Winona State. Minnesota State controlled possession from the start and struck first in the 22nd minute when Kiera Laney found the back of the net. Just four minutes later, Mila Rustin extended the lead with a goal assisted by Ruthie Gyasi, giving MSU a 2-0 cushion heading into halftime.

The Mavericks' defense remained dominant throughout the match, anchored by McAlpine, who earned another clean sheet with multiple key saves. Addison Clarey and Van Wyngarden led a back line that limited the Warriors' opportunities. Offensively, Avery Korsching and Archer added several quality chances in the second half, but Winona's goalkeeper made several stops to prevent further damage.
