MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State tennis has announced three student-athletes have signed to join the Mavericks during the fall signing period. They include Julia Gurholt, Esther Cerqueira and Lucie Sliskova.

All signings and transfers are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Julia Gurholt | 5'8 | Kimberly High School | Kimberly, Wisconsin
Â
Gurholt joins the Mavericks as an accomplished high school athlete in Wisconsin. At Kimberly, Gurholt has amassed 100 wins at No. 1 singles and is a three-time first-team all-conference selection. She has qualified for the State meet four times and won the 2024 Wisconsin Frank Parker Sportsmanship Award. Gurholt was named team most valuable player four times and is an officer in National Honors Society. She has also been student council president for three years and is a Link Crew coordinator. In October 2024, Fox Valley Sports Magazine named Gurholt Athlete of the Month. Gurholt intends to study Exercise Science and Pre-OT at Minnesota State.

I have all the confidence in the world that she'll be a day-one starter for us at the top of the lineup and eventually develop into one of the top players in all of NCAA Division II."

Esther Cerqueira | 5'7 | Colegio Balão Vermelho, Minas Gerais | Belo Horizonte, Brazil

Cerqueira was on the State team for national competition between states and was nationally ranked inside the Top 10 as an 18-year-old (Confederação Brasileira de Tênis). She plans to major in Biotechnology at Minnesota State.

Coach Hokanson on Cerqueira: "We are so excited to have Esther join us for Fall 2025. She's a very strong player and person and we couldn't be more enthusiastic to have her on our squad. She'll do amazing things here at Minnesota State."

Lucie Sliskova | 5'3 | EDUCAnet ceske budejovice gymnasium | Prachatice, Czechia

Intends to study Pre-Physiotherapy at Minnesota State.

Coach Hokanson on Sliskova: "We are so excited to welcome Lucie into our Maverick Tennis Program. She is a very high-level, left-handed tennis player from Czechia. I have a ton of confidence that she'll be one of our top players right away as a freshman and provide some more great energy and work ethic to our team."
