Box Score St. Cloud, Minn—No. 13 Minnesota State battled St. Cloud State to a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon on the road at Husky Stadium.
The Mavericks and Huskies battled back and forth during the match and both teams generated few chances on goal. MSU had three shots on goal and St. Cloud State finished with four.
In the 38
th minute of the game St. Cloud State's Linsey Trapino scored the Huskies only goal of the game.
Heading into half time St. Cloud State was ahead 1-0.
The Mavericks secured their spot on the scoreboard in the 65
th minute as sophomore
Maddix Archer found the back of the net with an assist from freshman
Marin Johnson. It was Archer's fourth goal of the season and Johnson's first assist of her collegiate career.
"We had a slow start today which we need to find a way to fix…as it's been a bit of an issue for us. I need to do a better job making sure we're ready from the start." Said head coach Brian Bahl
"I was really proud of how we responded in the 2nd half though. Our ladies really stepped up, executed a shape change very well and almost found a way to come away with a win. We've had a really challenging first ten games of the season and I think that will prepare us well going forward and I love this team and the fight it consistently shows."
The Mavericks (6-1-3, 5-0-1 NSIC) are back on the road Friday as they take on Southwest Minnesota State at 3 p.m., then host Winona State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
