#9 Mavericks and Wolves Battle to a Scoreless Tie

MANAKTO, Minn. --- #9 Minnesota State and Northern State finished their weekend with a 0-0 draw at The Pitch Sunday afternoon.

With the tie, MSU now owns a 10-1-5 overall record, including a 9-0-3 NSIC record. NSU owns a 6-5-4 record, including a 5-3-3 conference record.

"I thought we really played well today and controlled the tempo of the game throughout," head coach Brian Bahl said. "We were a bit unlucky not to find one, but I was proud of how disciplined we were and our effort and energy was terrific."

MSU owns a 13-match unbeaten streak dating back to Sept. 15. The Mavericks have also not allowed a goal in their last five matches.

In total, the Mavericks outshot the Wolves 10-6, including a 4-2 lead in shots on goal. MSU also enjoyed a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks. The second half saw the Mavericks outshoot the Wolves 7-3, including a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Senior Clare Longueville (9-0-4) earned her seventh shutout of the season as she stopped both shots she faced. NSU's Alexus Townsend (5-4-3) picked up her third shutout of the season as she stopped all four of Minnesota State's shots on goal.

Junior Kiera Laney notched two shots on goal, while junior Courtney Kovacs and senior Kelsey Heller each recorded one shot on net.

Minnesota State wraps up its regular season schedule on the road next weekend as it takes on Bemidji State on Friday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m.
