MANKATO, Minn. - No. 9 Minnesota State (9-1-4, 8-0-2 NSIC) hosts MSU Moorhead (1-11-2, 1-8-1) on Friday at 3 p.m. and Northern State (6-5-3, 5-3-2) on Sunday at 1 p.m. nearing the end of conference regular season play. Both matchups will be streamed live on the NSIC Network.
MSU traveled to Sioux Falls and Wayne State this past weekend resulting in a 4-0 shutout over the Cougars and a 0-0 tie against the Wildcats.
Minnesota State leads the NSIC with 24 goals this season.
Maddix Archer leads the Maverick offense and the NSIC with seven goals and three assists this season.
In goal, Clare Longueville leads with 0.29 goals against average and a .923 save percentage. The Mavericks have allowed four goals in 14 games this fall and rank fourth in NCAA Division II goals against average.
Facing MSUM:
Looking ahead into the matchup with MSU Moorhead, the Mavericks are 18-3 with the Dragons. The last time the two teams met was last season in Moorhead. The Mavericks lost 2-1.
Scouting the Dragons:
MSUM currently has a 1-11-2 overall record. Last weekend the Dragons faced St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth on the road. They lost both games 4-0 and 2-1. Freshman Madalynn Hopkins leads the Dragons with two goals for the season.
Facing Northern State:
MSU is 16-1-3 with the Wolves. Last season, the Wolves and the Mavericks met up in South Dakota resulting in a 1-1 tie.
Scouting the Wolves:
NSU has a 6-5-3 overall record. The Wolves traveled to Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State last weekend resulting in one win and one loss. They defeated Duluth 2-1, then lost to St. Cloud 2-1. Senior Megan Fastenau leads the Wolves with six goals and two assists.
