What Lies Ahead: Minnesota State opens the conference dual season at home, starting Friday against Minot State at 7:00 p.m. The Mavericks turn right around to host University of Mary on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Minnesota State holds a 3-0 dual record.

About Minot State: The Beavers are 5-4 overall, with a 1-1 NSIC record. Minot State's Jake Swirple is ranked #6 at 285 lbs. Head coach, Evan Forde, is in his 9th year with the Beavers and has a current overall record of 38-89.

About UMary: UMary is 1-0 in NSIC duals and are 5-2 overall. The Marauders are ranked #15 nationally with five wrestlers ranked in the Top 10 of the NWCA Poll as of Dec. 22, 2023. UMary is led by head coach Adam Aho, owning a 45-67 record throughout 11 years with the program.

Last Time Out: The Mavericks finished large and in charge throughout the Cactus Duals in Peoria, Ariz. on Dec 16th. The Mavericks won all three duals against Simon Fraser (B.C.), CSU-Pueblo, and Arizona Christian.
 

The Makovsky File: In his 31th year with Minnesota State, head coach Jim Makovsky holds an impressive 304-134-3 career record, the most in program history. Makovsky has coached 12 Individual National Champions, 96 NCAA All-Americans, and has been inducted into the NCAA DII Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.
 

National Appearances: Minnesota State made an appearance on the podium in the 2022-23 season with senior Darrell Mason, at 285 lb., finishing third. Mason held a 17-4 record, became a two-time NCAA All-American, and earned the Minnesota State Senior Male Athlete of the Year Honor. Mason was also the national champion at 285 lb. his junior year with a perfect 22-0 record.
