Minnesota State Knocked by Seventh Seed Concordia-St. Paul from NSIC Tournament

Mankato, Minn. --- No. 19 Minnesota State (11-3-5, 9-1-4 NSIC) was bounced from the NSIC tournament by Concordia St. Paul (9-6-4, 6-4-4 NSIC) after a 2-1 final Monday afternoon at the Maverick All-Sports Dome.

The Mavericks came into the tournament as the second seed hosting the seventh seed Golden Bears.

CSP was able to jump on the Mavericks in the first half outshooting Minnesota State 6-3 while both teams landed two on net.

The Golden Bears' leading scorer Katie Anderson notched the first tally of the game for CSP in the 30th minute.

The Mavericks were able to strike back in the 75th minute off senior Allie Williams' penalty kick knotting the score at one.

CSP was able to take advantage of a misplay in the defensive zone in the 81st minute to put home the game-winning goal delivering the Mavericks' second loss to the Golden Bears in program history.

"Heart-wrenching result today," stated head coach Brian Bahl. "We'll take some time to heal up and set our sights on getting ready for the NCAA tournament."

The Mavericks' next opponent will be determined in the NCAA selection show on the NCAA website on November 13th at 5:30 p.m. CST.
