MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team won a total of eight events Saturday afternoon as it bested Sioux Falls 171-122.

The Mavericks now own a 6-1 dual record on the season, while USF falls to 7-5 in dual competition.

MSU picked up its first win of the dual in the 400 medley relay event as the team of sophomore Abby Gronholz, freshman Megan Schultz, senior Nicole Beckman and junior Olivia Hudoba posted a time of 3:59.06. The Mavericks finished the dual with another relay win as the quartet of junior Brooke Shell, sophomore Kelby Schendel, sophomore Maija Carriveau and junior Elise Mishmash posted a time of 1:40.20 in the 200 freestyle relay.

Schultz won the 100 breaststroke event with a time of 1:07.51, while junior Ella DeFever finished first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.08. DeFever also won the 100 freestyle (54.24) event, while Beckman took first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.16.

Senior Ayla Taylor won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 255.95, while sophomore Sydney Hanson won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 254.65.

Minnesota State continues its season on the road on Saturday, January 28, as it takes on MSU Moorhead. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
